Overview

Contolino helps you track and split shared expenses. This policy explains what personal data we process, why, and the rights you have. We collect only what is needed to run the service.

What we collect

Account data: your email address, display name, preferred language, and avatar (an emoji, a colour, or an uploaded photo).

Expense data: the pots you belong to, items, amounts, who paid, how costs are split, and any receipts you upload.

Technical data: a session cookie that keeps you signed in. We do not use tracking or advertising cookies.

Data sharing with Casalito

Contolino works alongside Casalito, a companion household app (a "sidecar" app), and exchanges data with it in two ways.

Account provisioning: if your Contolino account was created from Casalito, your identity (email, name, and language) was transferred from Casalito to Contolino through a signed, single-use link.

Household summary: for any pot you explicitly mark "show in household", Contolino shares a read-only balance summary back to Casalito so it can display it. You control this per pot, and only balances are shared — not individual receipts.

We do not share your data with any other third parties, and we never sell it.

Hosting and third-party services

Contolino is hosted by Infomaniak Network SA, Rue Eugène-Marziano 25, 1227 Geneva, Switzerland. All data is stored on servers located in Switzerland.

Transactional emails (sign-in links, password resets, invitations, debt reminders) are sent via Resend, Inc. Resend processes the recipient email address and message content solely to deliver these messages.

Fonts are loaded from Fonts Bunny (bunny.net), a privacy-friendly font CDN that does not track visitors. When you load a page, your browser contacts bunny.net to download the typefaces; no personal data beyond your IP address is transmitted.

Legal basis and retention

We process your data to provide the service you requested (performance of a contract) and, where relevant, on the basis of your consent (for example, uploading a photo). We keep your data for as long as your account exists.

You can delete your pots and your account at any time; associated data is removed accordingly, subject to any retention required by law.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, and port your data, and to object to processing. To exercise any of these, contact us using the details below.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
